Personal Logo Process

STEP 1: Mood Board

I first created a mood board that consisted of inspiration, photos, color palette and fonts. The mood I am trying to convey in my logo is energized, clever and bold.

STEP 2: Research

Before creating my logo, I looked for inspiration, color combinations, and existing logos of businesses and organizations.

STEP 3: Logo Types

There are 6 different types of logos: Logotype, Product/Service, Allegorical, Literal, Abstract and Initial. I created about 80 different logos, 50 of which were Initial type logos.

STEP 4: Vectorized rough drafts

I narrowed it down to 7 logos, most of which were “Initial Type” logos, and one was “Allegorical type”.

STEP 5: Logo Testing Situations

I tested each of the 4 logos in 5 different situations: Fragmentation, Focus, Distortion, Embossing and Motion to ensure the design of my logos are strong and legible.

STEP 6: Final Logo

My final selected logo was “Initial Type”. I have a black and white version as well as a color version.

STEP 7: Brand Board

The last step in the logo design process was creating a brand board to display my final choices. This includes my final logo using a handmade font that I created in Illustrator using the pen tool, as well as my final color palette and some inspiration.
